Heart FM supports local talent by joining kykNET in launching new soapie Suidooster

Cape Town, 17 November 2015:  On Monday 16 November 2015 South African history was made when the first soapie to be set and filmed in the Western Cape, Suidooster, went to air on Afrikaans channel kykNET  and kykNET & kie (DStv channel 145). The production has already garnered the support of the entertainment industry including Heart FM, Cape Town’s number one radio station.

Heart FM has joined forces with kykNET to launch Suidooster as the radio station supports the development of talent and the knock-on effect the production will create, which is in line with the company’s values. It is anticipated that the new series will contribute to creating more employment opportunities in the television and entertainment industry in South Africa.

The production, which features some of South Africa’s top acting talent in the form of Denise Newman, Johan Botha, Cedwyn Joel, Abduraghmaan Adams and Marcel van Heerden to name a few, has already created 65 new sustainable jobs which includes 15 first time actors.

On launch day Monday 16 November, Heart FM broadcasted the 9 to 12 show with Tracey Lange from the Suidooster film studio in Montague Gardens which created awareness around the production. All of the actors were present on the day and shared with Tracey the journey from the initial idea to produce a local soapie to the excitement of going on air for the very first time.
